Quark Cheese Spread
This soft, spreadable cheese has it’s roots in Germany and western Austria. Along with being a staple in the European diet, it is also used in recipes for both sweet and savory products. It can be substituted for cream cheese in most applications. Since it is made with whole milk and not cream (like cream cheese is) it is lower in fat. The ingredient list for quark is short and sweet, “pasteurized cultured milk, rennet, and salt”. At Argyle Cheese Farmer we not only sell this in containers, the cheesemaker uses it as a base for all our dips and spreads and it is the major ingredient in our cheesecakes -- that melts in your mouth !
